Approximately twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the region, generating strong winds hitting 109km/h.

Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Damage

Homeowners witnessed giant hailstones as large as 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that various areas across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the extensive power failures.

Victorian Weather Woes

Simultaneously, approximately one thousand residents in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the capital city experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.

State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the region, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

• Wyndham region - nearly 180 help reports

At one point on Sunday, over 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Climate Outlook

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent storm activity predicted across various areas of both states.

Health Warning

Medical authorities warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
